While how your heat pump is installed is important, which brands or heat pump manufacturers you choice are even more critical. In the US alone there are over 35 major heat pump manufacturers. Yes, I said 35. And this doesn’t include any specialty or custom shops that create heating systems made to order. With this many companies all trying to grab your attention and your hard earned paycheck, how can anyone, who isn’t an expert find a good heat pump company?

With so many companies to choose from, you as a potential buyer have to take the time and become an informed consumer. The first thing you need to know in order to be a better consumer, is while there are lots of different heat pumps out there, the following top companies sell the lion share of products each year.

Buying a product from a top ten heat pump manufacturer ensures that your unit will be made from better quality materials, be more reliable, have access to more repair parts and have a larger network of experienced HVAC installers familiar with the brand or model.

Trane – For over 90 years, no matter what kind of weather was happening just outside your door, you could always trust in a Trane system to heat or cool your home. Carrier – Since the founder of Carrier, Willis H. Long known for a tradition of innovation and a commitment to excellence, Carrier is a top seller of home heat pumps.

Goodman – Started by Harold V. Goodman, in 1954, the company became one of the largest HVAC contractors in Houston, Texas. But Goodman was not satisfied with the products he was installing. Lennox – Since founder Dave Lennox built and sold the first riveted-steel furnace in 1890, for over a 100 years Lennox has been known for making quality and innovative products for both the home and industrial marketplace. With a product line of more than 60 different items, they are considered one of the premium heat pump manufacturers in the world.

Several other companies you should look at when considering getting a new heat pump are Rheem, American Standard (a division of Trane), Amana, Bryant, and Coleman. While not as well known as the brands mentioned before these smaller yet reputable heat pump manufacturers should also be thoroughly investigated before you make your final purchase decisions.
